Bengaluru-based medical device start-up Lumov has secured $1.2 million (₹10 crore) in seed funding, as it aims to reshape India’s orthopedic recovery and rehabilitation landscape. The round was led by Incubate Fund Asia, with participation from QRG Investments and Holdings—the Havells family office—alongside IIMA Ventures, SIDBI and a roster of prominent angel investors.

Lumov specialises in developing clinically engineered orthopedic products and orthoses designed to support post-surgical recovery, rehabilitation and lifestyle-related pain management. The company’s solutions are developed in collaboration with leading orthopedic specialists across major hospital chains, including Manipal, Apollo, Sakra and AIG, ensuring products tailored to India’s anatomy, climate and patient needs.

The funding comes amid a fast-rising musculoskeletal health burden in India, driven by sedentary lifestyles, an ageing population and increasing surgical interventions. While India’s medical devices market is projected to reach $50 billion by 2030, the orthotics and rehabilitation segment remains largely underserved—caught between low-quality domestic offerings and expensive imports. Lumov aims to address this gap by delivering India-first orthopedic products rooted in clinical evidence and contemporary design.

The company plans to use the fresh capital to scale manufacturing, strengthen surgeon partnerships and expand its footprint to Delhi NCR, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The investment will also support the development of advanced bracing solutions for rehabilitation and post-surgical care. Lumov’s 15-member team is expected to grow significantly as part of its expansion efforts.

Founded by Saumaric Dangwal and Ankit Gupta—alumni of IIT Kharagpur and Harvard Business School—the company benefits from the founders’ deep investment experience in healthcare and consumer sectors, having jointly managed over $1.5 billion in capital. Investors say their clinical insight and design-led approach position Lumov to become a category-defining player in musculoskeletal care.

With India’s MSK needs rising sharply, Lumov aims to emerge as a leading provider of high-quality recovery and rehabilitation solutions for millions of patients.
