Indian playback singer Sonu Nigam has leased out a commercial property in Mumbai’s Santacruz East for a monthly rent of ₹19 lakh, according to registration documents reviewed by property consultancy Square Yards. The lease agreement, filed with the Inspector General of Registration (IGR), was formally registered in December 2025.
The commercial unit, situated in Trade Centre BKC, spans 4,257 sq ft (around 395 sq m). The transaction attracted a stamp duty of ₹3.27 lakh and a registration fee of ₹1,000. The tenant has also furnished a security deposit of ₹90 lakh as part of the agreement.
Square Yards’ analysis shows that the lease runs for five years with a structured escalation clause. The monthly rent remains ₹19 lakh for the first year before rising 5.26% to ₹20 lakh in the second year. From the third year onwards, the rent will increase at 5% annually, touching ₹21 lakh in year three, ₹22.05 lakh in year four, and ₹23.15 lakh by the fifth year. Over the entire tenure, the total rental payout amounts to approximately ₹12.62 crore.
Santacruz East has emerged as a sought-after real estate zone in Mumbai, buoyed by strong connectivity and proximity to major commercial hubs. Its location near the Western Express Highway, the suburban rail network, metro corridors, and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport enhances its appeal for businesses. The area’s adjacency to the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Kalina, Andheri, and Vile Parle further supports demand for both office and retail spaces.
Sonu Nigam, whose career spans more than three decades, remains one of India’s most acclaimed and versatile playback singers. Known for his wide vocal range and emotive performances, he has delivered some of Bollywood’s most recognisable songs and has accumulated numerous national and international awards. Beyond film music, he continues to be a prominent stage performer and independent artist, maintaining a strong global following.
