Indian IT services major Wipro has entered into a three-year strategic partnership with Microsoft aimed at helping large enterprises accelerate their adoption of artificial intelligence and reshape how work is done.
The collaboration, announced on Thursday, focuses on supporting what the companies describe as “Frontier Firms” — organisations that are early adopters of AI and are using the technology to drive productivity, innovation and new business models.
Under the agreement, Wipro will combine its consulting and engineering capabilities with Microsoft’s cloud and AI platforms, including Azure, Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot and Azure AI Foundry. The partnership will also integrate AI tools with widely used enterprise platforms, enabling companies to embed AI into day-to-day workflows.
The two firms said they would jointly develop industry-specific AI solutions for sectors such as financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences and airports. These offerings will be built using Wipro’s proprietary industry platforms, including NetOxygen, Wealth AI and Falcon Supply Chain, to address sector-specific challenges.
As part of the initiative, Wipro is accelerating the use of AI across its own operations through its Wipro Intelligence suite, a collection of AI-powered platforms and tools. The company has deployed more than 50,000 Microsoft Copilot licences internally and is training over 25,000 employees in Microsoft Cloud and GitHub technologies, with the aim of creating an AI-ready workforce.
A key element of the partnership is the launch of a Microsoft Innovation Hub at Wipro’s Partner Labs in Bengaluru. The hub is designed to act as a co-innovation space where clients can work with experts through workshops, test AI solutions and develop use cases tailored to their industries.
Wipro said the initiative would help enterprises move from experimentation to large-scale AI deployment, while ensuring responsible use of the technology. Microsoft said the partnership reflects growing demand from businesses seeking trusted, scalable AI solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
