Citi has appointed veteran markets professional Manoj Goel as the new Head of Corporate FX Sales for India and the Indian Subcontinent, as the bank looks to strengthen its foreign exchange franchise amid rising cross-border trade flows.

Mumbai – Citi has announced the appointment of Manoj Goel to lead its Corporate FX Sales business across India and the wider subcontinent, with the role effective immediately. Goel, a seasoned financial markets specialist with more than two decades of experience, joins the bank from HSBC, where he served as Head of Global Markets Corporate Sales.

Goel brings over 23 years of expertise in the Indian financial markets, having advised a wide range of corporates on currency risk, structured FX solutions and strategic hedging requirements. He has been involved in some of the country’s largest cross-border foreign exchange transactions and has played a key role in building corridor connections with major global financial centres.

In his new position, Goel will report to Vandana Bhatter, Citi’s Head of Corporate FX Sales for Japan, Asia North & Australia (JANA) and Asia South, as well as to Aditya Bagree, Head of Markets for India. His mandate includes expanding the bank’s corporate FX capabilities, deepening engagement with Indian multinational clients, and further enhancing Citi’s delivery of innovative FX and risk-management products.

‘Aligned with our strategy’

Welcoming the appointment, Vandana Bhatter said Goel’s leadership would bolster Citi’s position in a competitive market.
“Manoj’s appointment is aligned with our strategy to reinforce our position as the market-leading corporate FX franchise in India. His deep expertise will further strengthen our position locally and our ability to deliver for our clients,” she said.

Aditya Bagree, Managing Director and Head of Markets for India & South Asia, said the timing of the appointment is significant as Indian corporates increasingly navigate fluctuating global markets.
“We welcome Manoj to the Citi India Markets team. It has never been more imperative for corporates with cross-border trade and investment flows to manage risk and operate efficiently across international markets. Our market-leading Corporate FX franchise is key to supporting our clients’ requirements, and we look forward to Manoj helping us enhance our value proposition,” Bagree added.

Goel holds an Electronics Engineering degree from BITS Pilani and earned a silver medal during his MBA at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Class of 2002).
