Indian deep-tech investor Capital-A has led a $750,000 pre-seed funding round in Quintrans, a young engineering startup working on direct-drive linear motion technology for industrial automation, robotics and equipment manufacturing.

The round, announced on 16 December 2025, also saw participation from Sumeet Kabra of RR Global, SanchiConnect, AIC-Pinnacle and other strategic partners, along with continued support from IIMA Ventures.

Founded by four engineers from MIT Pune — Pranay Luniya, Kartik Kulkarni, Aniruddha Atigre and Prasanna Kadambi — Quintrans is developing electromagnetic and electromechanical linear motion components designed to deliver frictionless movement, high-speed performance and micron-level precision. The company’s approach focuses on designing and manufacturing these systems in India, aiming to offer cost-efficient solutions tailored to domestic and global customers.

The fresh capital will be used to set up an in-house manufacturing and advanced testing facility in Pune, expand research and development in electromagnetic actuation, and build a core engineering and operations team ahead of commercial rollout.

India manufactured around 6.8 million actuators in the 2022 financial year, a figure expected to rise to 10–11 million units by FY26, driven by demand from sectors such as automotive, industrial automation, HVAC and marine engineering. Quintrans is targeting annual production of nearly 500,000 actuators by 2030, positioning itself as a significant domestic player in a market traditionally dominated by global companies such as SMC, Festo and LinMot.

Pranay Luniya, founder and chief executive of Quintrans, said the company’s focus was on building reliable, end-to-end linear motion systems in India. He added that developing hardware and control electronics in-house would allow customers to access fully integrated solutions.

Capital-A founder and lead investor Ankit Kedia said motion systems were critical to global industry but had seen limited innovation from emerging markets. He said Quintrans’ early technical progress and practical understanding of industrial needs set it apart.

Quintrans is part of MaXcel, a hardware and industrial technology accelerator run by Capital-A and SanchiConnect, which supports engineering-led manufacturing startups.
