Egyptian companies have strengthened their presence at this year’s Big 5 Global in Dubai, joining participants from more than 165 countries as the region’s largest construction event focuses on resilient supply chains and sustainable urban development. The exhibition, which features over 2,800 global suppliers and more than 60,000 products and solutions, has emerged as a key platform for Egypt as it pursues large-scale infrastructure and fourth-generation city projects.
More than 65 countries are exhibiting this year, with around 70% of showcased solutions coming from international providers. Organisers say this global mix helps connect Egypt’s construction stakeholders to advanced technologies in materials, modular building, energy efficiency and digital engineering.
Ahmed Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries, said the event supports Egypt’s ambitions to modernise urban infrastructure. “Big 5 Global provides a great opportunity for local and international stakeholders to connect, explore solutions and enhance project delivery,” he noted, adding that Egyptian firms are increasingly contributing tailored and sustainable products to meet national development goals.
Global exhibitors expand sourcing options
International pavilions from Germany, Italy and Austria returned with advanced materials including high-performance concrete, marble systems and modular construction. India increased its presence with MEP and smart-construction solutions aimed at large projects across the Middle East and Africa. New exhibitors from Armenia, Croatia, Hungary, Norway and Serbia also broadened sourcing options for regional buyers looking to diversify supply chains.
The push for low-carbon materials and prefabrication was also prominent. China unveiled an Eco-Friendly Zone built entirely from recyclable materials, while Middle Eastern suppliers showcased technologies aimed at reducing waste, improving energy use and cutting delivery timelines.
Technology reshapes project delivery
Digitalisation was a major theme, with companies such as Autodesk, Procore, Nemetschek Group, Trimble and Odoo demonstrating tools that streamline procurement and project management. Trimble highlighted automation systems capable of reducing on-site rework by up to 25%, while Premier Construction Software showcased integrated cost-tracking platforms.
Meter Technology, which operates in nine countries, presented what it calls the world’s first fully integrated digital surveying platform. Company founder Ahmed Al-Ansary said its AI-powered system can complete complex surveying work within 48 hours, helping reduce longstanding inefficiencies.
Sustainability in focus
Sustainable building technologies also drew significant attention. Grundfos displayed energy-efficient pumping systems designed to cut water and electricity use, while Deewan Equipment Trading introduced modular and precast systems aimed at reducing onsite waste. GF, a leading MEP solutions provider, showcased systems supporting efficient water management—seen as critical to Gulf countries’ long-term development plans.
Josine Heijmans, Vice President at dmg events, said international collaboration remains vital as the UAE pursues smart-city and net-zero ambitions. “These partnerships bring scalable solutions that support efficiency, quality and delivery,” she said.
Big 5 Global continues through this week with support from major regional and international partners.
