Patel Engineering has secured a major infrastructure contract in northern India, marking a significant addition to its order book in the hydropower segment.

The Mumbai-based company said it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) for Package-1 of the Renuka Ji Dam project. The contract is valued at Rs 910.08 crore, including GST, and follows the company’s earlier selection as the lowest bidder for the project.

Located in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, the project is expected to be completed within 30 months. It forms part of the broader Renuka Ji Dam development, which is seen as important for water resource management and renewable energy generation in the region.

Under the contract, Patel Engineering will construct three diversion tunnels, each with a diameter of 9.5 metres and stretching between 1.3 km and 1.6 km. The scope of work also includes building inlet and outlet structures, developing around 6 km of access and approach roads, and installing hydro-mechanical systems to regulate water flow. In addition, the company will implement instrumentation and monitoring systems aimed at ensuring long-term safety and operational reliability.

Commenting on the development, Managing Director Kavita Shirvairkar said the award reflects the client’s confidence in the company’s ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects. She added that the project would contribute to strengthening water security and supporting renewable energy development in India.

Founded in 1949, Patel Engineering has built a strong presence in hydropower, tunnelling and irrigation projects. The company says it has completed more than 85 dams, 40 hydroelectric projects and over 300 km of tunnelling works across India and overseas markets, largely for public sector and government clients.
