After facing multiple entrepreneurial failures, Meenu Margaret, founder of activewear brand Blissclub, has built a successful business with a monthly income of Rs 1 crore ($120,000), capitalising on India’s growing demand for women’s fitness apparel.

Margaret, born in Hyderabad on June 18, 1994, launched Blissclub in 2020 after two unsuccessful ventures. Her first startup, inspired by Rent the Runway, offered clothing rentals but failed to gain traction. She then set up an automated laundromat near colleges in Bengaluru, targeting students, but the venture also shut down after incurring heavy losses.

Despite the setbacks, Margaret pursued an MBA from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. She also gained experience working at leading companies including Goldman Sachs, Wipro, Unilever, and PhonePe, which provided her with insights across industries.

In 2020, identifying a gap in quality activewear for women, Margaret launched Blissclub, focusing on apparel designed for physical activities, workouts, and sports. With the rise of athleisure, Blissclub’s products are now also popular as casual wear, blending comfort with style.

Blissclub has expanded rapidly, with a growing online presence and multiple offline stores across India. The brand also conducts community events promoting women’s fitness and wellness.

Margaret’s entrepreneurial journey is further intertwined with India’s startup ecosystem. She is married to Vidit Aatrey, co-founder and CEO of social commerce platform Meesho.

Blissclub’s success reflects a broader trend of rising demand for women-centric fitness and lifestyle brands in India, driven by increased health awareness and changing consumer preferences.
