State Bank of India (SBI) has marked the 76th Constitution Day with a series of commemorative programmes across the country, led by the inauguration of a special exhibition on the “Making of the Constitution of India” at its Corporate Centre in Mumbai.
The exhibition, opened by SBI Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, traces India’s constitutional journey and highlights the debates, values and aspirations that shaped the founding document. Curated to mark 76 years since the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution, the showcase aims to deepen public understanding of the principles that underpin India’s democracy.
Speaking at the event, Mr Setty said the Constitution remained the cornerstone of India’s democratic framework and a guiding force for the nation’s citizens. “The Constitution of India is not just a legal document; it is the guiding light that shapes our responsibilities, aspirations and collective progress,” he said. “As we celebrate 76 years of its adoption, it is important that each one of us reflects on the duties it entrusts to us. Through this exhibition and nationwide programmes, we hope to inspire greater constitutional awareness, civic responsibility and pride in our democratic heritage.”
Across SBI’s vast network — including Local Head Offices, Administrative Offices, Regional Business Offices, Centralised Processing Centres and more than 23,000 branches — employees and leaders participated in Constitution Day observances. Staff members took a collective oath to uphold constitutional values, commit to ethical conduct and discharge their duties with integrity.
Constitution Day, or Samvidhan Diwas, is observed annually to mark the adoption of the Constitution on 26 November 1949, which came into force on 26 January 1950.
SBI said its nationwide observance reflects its long-standing commitment to strengthening civic awareness and encouraging respect for constitutional principles among its workforce and the communities it serves.
