Bandhan Bank reported a 13% year-on-year increase in gross advances to Rs 1.58 lakh crore as of September 2026, reflecting growth in its lending portfolio during the second quarter of the 2026-27 financial year.

Deposits also increased during the period, rising 9% year-on-year to Rs 1.73 lakh crore as of September 2026, according to the bank’s financial highlights for the quarter and half year ended 30 September.

The bank also reported an improvement in asset quality, with its gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio declining to 3.1% in the second quarter of FY27, compared with 5% in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

Net non-performing assets (NNPA) stood at 0.9%, down from 1.4% in Q2 FY26. The decline in both ratios indicates a reduction in the proportion of loans classified as non-performing, although the figures alone do not establish the reasons behind the improvement.

Asset quality remains an important indicator for lenders, as a higher proportion of stressed loans can affect profitability and increase the need for provisions against potential losses.

Bandhan Bank’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 18.3% at the end of September 2026. The ratio measures a bank’s capital in relation to its risk-weighted assets and provides an indication of its capacity to absorb potential losses.

The latest figures present a mixed but encouraging picture of the bank’s performance, with growth in advances and deposits accompanied by an improvement in reported asset quality.

However, a fuller assessment of its financial performance would require additional details, including net profit, net interest income, net interest margin, provisions and operating expenses.

The figures cover the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026.
